You can find this week's Wordless Wednesday post over here. I'll get to why it's in a different place this week in just a moment.
I went with my friend, Matt, to play Drag Queen Bingo tonight. Well, it's not technically called DQB, but that's neither here nor there.
My monthly bingo game is actually a benefit to support P.A.L.S. Atlanta. You can find information about the organization HERE. It really is a lot of fun. This is my second time going. Next month's theme is Alabama Prom. Let me just tell you... I cannot WAIT for May 13th!!! I justify my convoluted Mom's Night Off by convincing myself that I'll eventually win the $500 jackpot. Don't laugh. It could happen.
I must admit that I love DQB. For some reason, putting ink blobs on a piece of paper as random numbers and letters are called is immensely satisfying. I've even been tempted to find a group of blue-haired ladies at the American Legion to play with so that I can get my fix more frequently. Somehow, however, I doubt it would be quite the same as playing alongside my friends Matt and John while Bubba and Alexandria exchange cheek-flushing quips that only those with a truly sick sense of humor can appreciate. I think it would ultimately be an anti-climatic waste of a child-free evening. I haven't completely put the thought out of my mind though.
And now to the explanation portion of tonight's post... (because I'm sure you've all been on the edge of your seats)
I have a horribly irrational fear of being struck down by lighting. No. I really, really do. And for some reason, I just cannot bring myself to post pictures of my father in his Clerics (have I mentioned that he's an ordained Deacon? Maybe not. That deserves a whole post for another day ;-) ) only three posts down from two of the most irreverent - albeit hilarious - camp drag queens I've ever seen. You can blame my Catholic School upbringing or the fact that I harbor a misguided fantasy that the Archbishop secretly reads (and laughs out loud at) my blog, but whatever the reason, when my initial photo upload wound up in the photo gallery instead of on the main page, I took it as a sign.
And just so we're clear... I have nothing against drag queens, or bingo, or drag queens playing bingo.
Besides, I clearly had a lot to say tonight. Why should I waste perfectly good linguistic creativity on a photo-post?!?!
Love, hugs, and blessings,
The Mama
