Limited redecorating = paint the whole friggin room.
The same amazing friend who's family gifted us our fridge also happens to have some incredible interior decorating talent. Well, her mom does. Their house is A-MAZ-ING. Especially the walls. I so love her walls.
When I went over to visit a couple of weeks ago, My Texas Mama gave me a quart of faux finish to "try out" and see if I liked it.
Like? How about LURVE!!!
Valspar Transluscent Faux Finish in Mocha. This stuff is unreal. Seriously.
Our dining room and kitchen are/were a khaki color. The dining room, despite having two wingback chairs, a table for 6, and a rather sizable china cabinet, looked incredibly sparse. It was cold and bare. Now, in all fairness, our previous two dining rooms were Merlot Red so I am not used to neutrals in such a bold room. Merlot is s a yummy color for a dining room in any other house. Not in this one though.
So, with 4" paint brush in hand, I opened the finish and decided to do a swatch. The small swatch became half of the wall. The half wall became a full wall. And before I knew it, I was two and a half walls deep and there was no way to turn back.
A naptime experiment turned into a two day project and my arm and I are now in a fight. Basically, it has gone on strike. But I still won. And the dining room looks beautiful.
See for yourself!

And then there were TWO! (Mini-Me... I had her convinced I was painting with chocolate. It was her idea, I just ran with it. This is right after she found out it wasn't really chocolate).

And 24 hours later:

Love, hugs, and blessings,
The Mama
