I'm a slacker. When I was in 7th grade, I got the brilliant idea that instead of giving something UP for Lent, I would ADD something to my daily regime in order to meet the Lenten Sacrifice requirements set forth by the Church.
Yes, this does make me a slacker. Not giving something up meant less accountability. I could have that piece of chocolate and not feel guilty. I'd say an extra Hail Mary as promised before I fell asleep (wink, wink, nod, nod).
This year, for some reason, things are different. I do want to give something up in order to enrich my life more. I want to do something that will help me improve and that will be a sacrifice.
I'm giving up Facebook for Lent.
Don't laugh! Okay... you can laugh a little bit. But then, regain your composure and come back to the topic at hand.
Facebook is the ultimate timesucker. It's everywhere: on my laptop, on my iMac, on my phone. I NEED to go to Facebook rehab.
Giving up FB will be a huge sacrifice for me. As a SAHM (translation - in case you're new here - Stay At Home Mom), Facebook is one of my primary links to the "outside" world. I think it's going to be good for me to step out of my comfort zone. Feeling a little isolated will be a good thing for a change.
Unplugging will give me more time to focus on the never ending "To Do" list. It will give afford me the opportunity to spend more time journaling, reading, knitting, blogging, praying, and meditating. I'm both scared and thrilled by the possibilities in store.
Thrilled, at least, for today... I'm not in the thick of it yet!
Love, hugs, and blessings,
The Mama

You are so right! Facebook is a huge time sucker... and it's so good! lol
Good luck with your challenge!
I know I've only known you for a few months, but the part I do know...this is a very HUGE deal for you. Will be watching with much interest to see how it goes. And if you'd like to connect with coffee, knitting, etc, just holler (via phone or email :-)
Sweet! I'm so excited that you're taking the challenge with me! We'll have to stay un-Facebook connected - we can commiserate together!
I'm excited for the ability to find more time in the day (yeah, right!) by not being on the time sucker.
It actually felt kind of nice to delete the app off my phone. We'll see how it feels in 39 more days!
