Finding My Happy Place

I posted on my Facebook profile that I was in search of my happy place. My friend, Sam, posted to my status, "Is that the place where ponies can fly and they poop butterflies?"

It made me laugh out loud. Literally. Of course, that could be because just seconds before, one of my insane dogs decided that she would have an afternoon poop snack from my two year old's diaper (YUCK!!!!!!! Don't EVEN get me started on how disgusting this is on so many levels). My thoughts upon reading her post ventured to how much more pleasant it would have been if Leia's delicacy of choice had been pooped butterflies. But, I digress.

The weather here took a sharp turn from sunny and 70, to a windy, cloudy,40 degrees today. I don't do all that well with such stark contrasts. I'm a little adverse to change, so needless to say the nosediving temperatures and winter-in-April skies didn't make for The Happiest Mama on this Monday. Combine that with my highly spirited and cabin-fever infected two and three year old's, and the lack of sleep from my five month old's need to eat every hour through the night to support her growth spurt, and It's been a rough one.

By 5:00 I was on the verge of a meltdown similar to the ones that N had no less than a dozen times today. You know the ones I'm talking about: the throw-myself-on-the-floor-and-thrash-around-while-alligator-sized-tears-pour-from-my-eyes-and-I-scream-at-the-top-of-my-lungs-for-no-apparent-reason variety.

The Husband thankfully came home and rescued me from my state of near insanity by taking the older two children out for a couple of hours.

Within ten minutes of the garage door closing, L and I fell asleep...

I found my happy place after all: nestled in the warmth of my down comforter and pillow-top mattress, 600 thread count sheets pulled up to my ears, with my baby sleeping peacefully in her co-sleeper next to me.
