Unexpected Surprises

This morning, N had his first checkup with the eye doctor. I'm horribly nearsighted and have worn glasses for longer than I can remember. My oldest princess also has some eye issues that we get checked out regularly, so I thought it would be best to go ahead and get him in.

I fully expected that we would walk out with a prescription for glasses. Instead, we left with an appointment for surgery.

Now, it's minor surgery, and I'm not concerned. I'm just trying to wrap my head around it. It's difficult to process something that's unexpected. It turns out he has obstructed tear ducts and probably has since birth. I always just thought he had watery eyes and the occasional nasty eye infection. Fortunately it's relatively easy to fix. The procedure itself will only take about 20 minutes; the bulk of our time will be spent in recovery.

I'm just thankful that it's minor, that it's fixable, and that we caught it before there could be any long-term problems from the issue. I'm also thankful that we have a wonderful eye doctor that I trust.

Kiss the ones you love. Be thankful for all of the little blessings and joys they bring to your life. Be humbled and gracious for good health and well being.

Love, hugs, and blessings,
The Mama
