I briefly took my blog off offline because I was debating whether or not it would be detrimental to some volunteer work I have been handling.
Just in case this happens again, feel free to send me a message and I'll add you to the Super Secret List of Readers (really though, it's just people that I had email addresses for that I knew would want to keep up with LBS).
I am what I am. And yes, there are probably times when I do need to be more mindful about what I'm throwing into the Online Universe. For now, however, I'm confident with what I've been oversharing and am happy to be "back".
Easter was wonderful. The kiddos are on spring break this week. And true to form, I've come down with some mystery illness that seems to be unique to me which has me shivering and in pain one minute and burning up the next. The only thing that has sounded good since last night is Luigi's Real Italian Ice cups. Realizing that I need my nourishment, I have consumed about four of them in the last hour. Somehow, I don't think that will be helpful when I am back up to 100% and begin my multi-mile walks with Big Red.
In other news, I am actually praying to Mother Nature for some rain. The Pollen Haze that has taken over is absolutely disgusting. Getting my kids some outside time is critical to everyone's survival and sanity. Unfortunately genetics do seem to play a role in the allergy game and my crew picked the short straws. Itchy watery eyes, runny noses, and eczema are rampant in our house. I read somewhere that a high pollen count is somewhere around 200... Atlanta's count has been in the 2000+ range for the last several days! Fail, Atlanta climate. Fail.
I owe you all some pictures too. I PROMISE I will get them off of my camera soon. It seems that every time I sit down to blog, my camera is nowhere to be found and I'm left with a verbose post that is completely void of interesting pictures. I owe you, and I know I do. I will make good on my promise!

The Mama

Is This Thing On?
Tap... tap... tap...
Yes, I hear the echo.
I'm so bad about posting. So, the best way for me to make it up to you is by posting about not posting. According to blogger, I have five followers. To you five, I apologize for my long absences and lack of postcards from the motherhood edge.
Things have been hectic. The Husband and I came up with some "we-won't-call-them-resolutions-but-that's-what-they-really-are" and we've actually been following through on them. That translates to less online time, and less opportunity for me to share my pointless pontifications with you.
I really am going to try harder. I've noticed that I am precariously close to 200 posts. I put a lot of pressure on myself though. I feel like I need to be witty, or insightful, or at least somewhat entertaining. Lately, however, my life has been all business and just as soon as I think "I need to blog about that" the moment has passed and I'm right back in the midst of chaos.
So, if you're hanging on, I appreciate it. I'll be back soon. I promise.
Love, hugs, and blessings,
The Mama

A Photog Blogger, I Am Not
Over the weekend, I picked up a magazine about blogging in search for some inspiration. Inside, the pages were graced with beautiful photographs from some amazing blog-istas who have made their name in the virtual world.
You won't find any pictures like that on here.
I don't own anything but a point & shoot camera. And my photography laziness is so extreme that I've coined my Project 365, "i365" because it's the only way I can guarantee I'll actually get a picture taken and loaded to Flickr every day.
My lack of a photographic eye can be attributed to many things.
On the most basic level, I'm lazy. Plain and simple. The thought of lugging out a camera, uploading pics, messing around with software, bla bla bla - it's just not for me. I have very talented friends who take and edit amazing pictures. It's a gift. They are amazing at it, and I prefer to leave the shooting and editing to them.
If I take a truly introspective look at myself, I could blame my eyes for my lack of photographer talent. Yes. My eyes.
I'm blind as a bat. If I were to be dropped off on an island in the middle of the ocean, I would only want my glasses or contacts. Forget a toothbrush. I need to be able to see!
Really though, at the core of everything I like having words paint pictures for me. Have you ever imagined something so beautiful, so rich, so exquisite only to be painfully disappointed when the visual manifestation of your imagined "something" was not even close to what you had pictured in your mind's eye?
(birds chirping... Yes, I hear them)
Okay then. Maybe it's just me.
At any rate, I'm not a photographer. I'm not going to try and pretend to be one - at least not at this point in my blogger youth. I do know that some of you need to be visually stimulated so I will do my best to provide you with something to keep you interested in between my linguistic ramblings. In the meantime, you can always check out my i365 on the right sidebar if you need a visual snack to get you by.

Something New!
First off, I have to give props to my friend, Rachel, for giving me this idea. Thanks mama!
If you will let your eyes wander to the right side of my page, you will see a new little gadget called "Ask The Mama". This handy little box lets you put in questions that you would like to see me answer (Yes, all four of my followers - you know who you are, and I love you!)
If you have a question that you want to ask, but don't want to publicly post it, you can always email me: littlebittysteps(at)gmail.com.
That's all for now, kids. I just wanted to make sure you knew about this little update so that you could take advantage of it at your leisure!

Well, Hello There!
I've been noticeably absent for the last week because we decided to take a last minute trip to my favorite place on the planet for the 4th of July.
My family has always gone to St. Simons Island over the summer, and I didn't want my children to miss out on this awesome, magical tradition. Hubs was able to pull together an amazing last minute getaway that gave all of us a much needed change of scenery.
The kids were wonderfully well behaved. We got them up bright and early on the 4th (bright and early as in 2:00 in the morning!) and headed down south. We indulged in fried shrimp, sun, and some light shopping. It was a little taste of heaven on earth.
Over the next several days, I'll try to get some pictures up and share some humorous stories from our trip.
Thanks for hanging in there while I've been away!

SLACKER!!!
I feel like it's been ages since I posted! I've been so busy working out, catching up on projects, and oh yeah, BEING A MOM that I haven't even been on the computer in probably two weeks! Thank God for my iPhone or I would be completely isolated from the world!
There are going to be lots of good things coming up though. I'm an online ambassador for the Breast Cancer 3 Day, so once I get my research and prompts read I'll be updating both here and on my 3 Day blog. I'm also finishing up an adorable sock monkey blanket for my friend Sabrina's new little boy that I can't wait to share! And thanks to my new gym-monkey status, I am compiling a list of inappropriate gym locker room behaviors that you simply cannot miss! My three-going-on-thirteen-year-old has given me lots to think about regarding parenting (especially since she uses the word "asshat" with contextually appropriate and wreckless abandon). Finally, I'm approaching my 31st birthday (GASP!) and have some thoughts about aging and the "liney thingies under my eyes" that my same precocious three year old has so aptly pointed out to me over the last several weeks.
Have no fear, I am around and doing well, just busy and sore and trying to keep my head above water. Three kids under the age of four is HARD work!
If you have any thoughts or questions for me, feel free to leave me a comment!

Welcome Back!
I'm in the process of a facelift. It was time for an overhaul of the blog, so I took the leap. I hope you like what you see so far.
The colors are going to change. I just haven't decided WHAT they will be changing to. I like what it is now, but I want something that's a little more me. The problem is that I love clean lines and a crisp look. If it gets cluttered, I'm less likely to stop by my own blog; I can imagine that others may feel similarly.
I've also started a photoblog. The link can be found right under the blog title. I haven't figured out exactly what the purpose is, but don't be surprised if my children finally make their way into the blogsphere via the photo gallery. Have no fear, I'll still post pictures here. I just want to make sure that I have a separate place to keep some things as well. It's an accountability issue for me. I'm hoping that by having the link out there, reminding me on a daily basis that hey, I have a photo gallery! then mabe I'll be able to snap more pictures with my real camera instead of just my iPhone.
I am thinking about also setting up a link with one line "thoughts for the day". There would be specific categories or labels that they would be limited to. I guess it's similar to tweeting, but again, might force me to at least get on here more frequently and actually post something instead of just passing by or sticking to the widgets that are accessible from my iPhone (again, with the damn convenience of technology!).
If you want to follow me on Twitter, and are not already approved to receive my updates, just request it when you click over to my link. Chances are pretty good I'll approve you (unless you're my husband... kidding, sweetie!). I'm much more of a smart ass over there than I am on here. You might find it either entertaining or offensive. Either way, I'm not going to make any apologies. You may read at your own discretion.
That's all for now, folks! I'm headed to the store to find some green goodness to make St. Patty's day fun around here. Maybe I'll even post a fun picture or two to share the joy!
Love, hugs, and blessings,
The Mama
