I'm going to try and get some things done later today that I can actually be proud of.
In the meantime, I've been super busy working on the advocacy case I took on a few weeks ago. We have the first of two "big meetings" tomorrow and then we go into Spring Break, so hopefully I'll be able to get caught up on some blogging when things calm down a little bit.
I've started another blog that has some information about education advocacy and what that actually means.
It is http://righttolearn.blogspot.com/. You'll see that it's pretty vanilla right now which is fine with me. I'm working on making sure the content is accurate and thorough. If you have any thoughts or feedback, I'd love to hear it!
We're still battling the runny noses and coughs that have plagued our house for the last three weeks. I'm looking forward to the forecast warmer temperatures to open the windows and bleach out the germies!
The warmer weather also means that the Red Rocket has been dusted off and the kiddos are enjoying being picked up from school and taken home on "foot". I have upped my mileage (and increased our chances for an early bedtime) by tacking on an additional two miles to our walks which means we're up to around a six mile walk every time I get them from school. The fresh air does wonders for everyone's attitudes - most especially mine - so I'm soaking up all I can while the weather holds out!
The Mohawk Monster and Mini-Me have both decided that naps are not part of their daily routine (much to my disliking) so I'm doing everything I can to entertain them and give them the chance to expunge every ounce of energy possible from their tiny bodies prior to bedtime. Thankfully, this also includes teaching them about responsibility, so they have been learning how to unload the dishwasher (minus sharp knives and glassware), pull laundry out of the dryer and drag it to the den, and make their own beds.
I've noticed two things in their "home maintenance" education process: 1) Mohawk Monster is extremely "particular" (wonder where he gets that - HA!) and things have to be JUST SO or the world very likely will tilt on it's axis from the resulting tantrum. 2) Mini-Me has hoarding tendencies and can give emotional meaning to everything - this includes but is not limited to tiny pieces of paper, broken jewelry, gift bags, used stickers... you name it.
I haven't figured out how to handle the latter of these two discoveries short of having things "disappear" when she's not looking. Fortunately she doesn't necessarily know everything that she has acquired as part of her "treasures" so the less desirable trinkets have found their way to a new home in the garbage can. Am I cruel? Probably. But I look at it like I'm giving her plenty to discuss in therapy when she's my age so at least she'll get her money's worth.
Enjoy this beautiful Wednesday!
Love, hugs, and blessings,
The Mama
