I've Hit A Wall

Today was ONE OF THOSE DAYS. It was more like a Monday than a Friday.

I think my kids got together and decided to conspire against me today. Yes, they are five months, two, and three, but I think they were sending around a "let's gang up on mom" memo in the pre-dawn hours. No. Really.

I cannot even begin to describe the insanity that the day was made of. It wasn't one particular thing that made the day rough. It was the whole damn thing. It was one of those days that makes a mom scratch her head and wonder if there's any way she can crawl back into bed with no one noticing. Or maybe just change her name to supercalafragilisticexpialadocious. Or maybe just find a remote and hit the fast-forward button about 24 hours (or 24 months).

I won't bore you with the details. However, I will say this: Honda CRV's, crabby children, rainy days, resistant potty trainers, poopie diapers, and three large car seats just do not mix. Trust me on this one. Do not try this at home.

Hence, the wall.

Today wasn't one of my finest mom moments. I yelled. I mocked. I ignored. I whined right back at the whiners. I cried right back at the criers. I made empty threats and ridiculous bribes. I put them to bed before it was even dark outside... without brushing their teeth (gasp!).

Tomorrow is a new day. I know this. I'll go to sleep, get a few hours of regularly interrupted rest, and just like today, I'll be woken to the sound of a wee-one's voice requesting... no, DEMANDING, "breaksmast". The regular debates over wardrobes will happen. The whining over diaper changes and potty trips will happen like clockwork. There will be lots of tattling, lots of tantrums, food on the floor, growling dogs, naptime resistance, and time-outs.

There will also be hugs, kisses, I love you's, and cuddle sessions...

I wouldn't have it any other way.

Love, hugs, and blessings,
The Mama
